Our informative classes and resources will prepare you for the basics of feeding, clothing, and parenting your baby. Then, we’ll help guide you to make the right decisions along the way and focus on what the role of fatherhood means to you and your family.

What Does It Mean to Be a Dad?
Dads are central to creating a loving family environment. And sometimes, being a great dad means seeking outside help for the support and knowledge to improve your family stability, health and relationships. It’s not easy to be a provider, a support system and a caregiver. But Inspiring Fathers can help prepare you to be a wonderful dad and make sure your family has the life they deserve. Our goal is to help you develop the skills, attitude and habits to become a consistently involved, responsible and committed father.
About the Program
Inspiring Fathers is a 13-week program that consists of group informational sessions designed to teach parenting and nurturing skills to men, in addition to providing individualized assistance for qualified dads. The group meets once a week, where they share a provided meal and review the Nurturing Fathers curriculum*. The sessions are led by our facilitators and build upon each other to cover a holistic approach to fatherhood.

- Self-Nurturing Skills 1: Fathering “The Little Boy Within”
- Self-Nurturing Skills 2: The Power to Meet My Own Needs
- The World of Feelings and Male Nurturance
- The Power to Nurture: Fathering without Violence or Fear
- Nurturing Relationships 1: Father Sons/Father Daughters
- Nurturing Relationships 2: Teamwork between Father and Spouse/Co-Parent
- A Time and Place for Fathering
- Overcoming Barriers to Nurturing Fathering: Anger, Alcohol/Other Substances, and Stress
- Discipline and Fun and Games
- Play Shop: Fun & Games for Fathers and their Children
- Graduation (Week 13)
In addition to the Nurturing Fathers currivulum, fathers may receive access to resources and services, such as:

- Educational support (GED programs)

- Health and wellness
- Reading and literacy

*Classes are offered virtually for those who are unable to attend in person.

Eligibility
This program is open to fathers in Cobb and Douglas Counties. Participants are automatically eligible if their partner is enrolled in the Healthy Start program. Healthy Start is a no-cost program that serves pregnant Black or African American women, who reside in Cobb and Douglas counties.
2023 Program Schedule
Inspiring Fathers meets every Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., over the course of 12 weeks. The weekly sessions are followed by a graduation ceremony during week 13.
